In this Informative Post, I plan on showing you how to share data on MTN and at the same time, answer some popular Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS) relating to MTN. This post is targeted towards my Nigerian audience. Let's roll.
There are many ways to share data on MTN. However, I am going to show you the easiest way which is the use of USSD code. Follow these steps below to share Your Data balance with another MTN user on the MTN network.
Step 1: On your phone Dialer, dial *321#, hit your MTN SIM icon and wait for the next screen.
Step 2: Now, select option 2 which says ‘Gift Data’. On the next screen, you will see another list of options.
Step 3: Select either ‘Transfer from Data Balance’ or ‘Buy For A Friend’. Don't worry, I will explain every step.
Step 4: If you choose to transfer for a friend, use the following steps to complete the transaction.
The next screen that pops up gives you the floor to input the recipients number. After that, select the amount of data you want to share the number and hit send. That is all, you are done.
Step 5: If you want to buy for a friend, follow these simple instructions below.
After choosing to buy for a friend, the next screen shows the available data bundles and their prices. Select whichever one you want, input the recipient phone number in the next pop up screen and complete the transaction.
NOTE: Transferring from your data balance will deduct your current Data plan while buying for a friend will deduct the exact amount of the bundle cost from your airtime balance.

HOW TO LINK NIN TO MTN
There are many ways you can use to link your NIN to your MTN number. However, I will focus on the USSD method. You can view aailable methods In a well detailed post on how to Link NIN to an MTN number.
To Link your NIN to an MTN number using the USSD code method, you start by dialing *996#, on the next screen, select option 1 which says ‘submit virtual NIN’. On the new set of options, select submit NIN, enter your correct 11 digit NIN number and then submit. That's an easy way to link your NIN to your MTN number.

HOW TO CHECK NIN ON MTN
To check your NIN Number on your MTN line, simply dial the short code *346# on your device and hit the MTN icon to start an action. Follow the on screen instructions and options to know your connected NIN Number.
Note: You can check your NIN if you used the same SIM card for NIN application and have linked your NIN to that SIM card/number previously.

HOW TO CHECK MTN DATA BALANCE
Simply Dial *312*4# to check your current and active data balance on your MTN line. Once the above code is dialed, your current Data Balance information will be displayed to you.
HOW TO CHECK MTN NUMBER
You can easily know your MTN number by checking the SIM pack that conveyed it during registration if you still have it with you.
You can also check via the USSD method which is the easiest by dialing *123*1*1# or *663#. Any of these codes will immediately show you your MTN number. They are other methods, but let us focus on the easiest.
HOW TO TRANSFER AIRTIME ON MTN
Simply Dial the USSD code below to easily share your airtime with another MTN number.

Note: The default MTN airtime transfer PIN is 0000, if you want to change this PIN to yours, then simply dial *321*1# then select option 2, follow the remaining on screen prompts to complete the action.
You can also dial *321# to follow on screen instructions if you don't want to do it directly as stated above.

HOW TO CHECK BVN ON MTN
On your MTN line, (which you used in registering your BVN, dial *565*0# on your device Dialer, agree to the N20 airtime fee on the next screen and wait for it to process. Your BVN will be shown to you.
Remember that you can only check your BVN using the SIM number you used when registering your BVN.
HOW TO REMOVE PRIVATE NUMBER ON MTN

HOW TO RECHARGE MTN
You can recharge your MTN line using different methods.
– For the USSD/recharge card method, simply dial *311*rechargecardnumber# and the value of the airtime voucher will be credited to your balance.
– You can also recharge your MTN line using your Bank, or buying from VTU apps.
HOW TO CANCEL AUTO RENEWAL ON MTN
The steps below shows how to cancel data auto renewal on MTN.
1. Dial *312# on your phone Dialer.
2. Select option 1 – Data Plans.
3. Select option 11- Manage Data.
4. Select option 3- Cancel Auto-renewal and you are done opting out of the auto renewal status.
